It's easy! 98% of our customers say it is either easy or very easy to use. One of our most important design principles is making TheraPro as absolutely intuitive and easy to use as possible for our therapists. You don't need to fill out any forms or create your own recordings or download any software. Just go to https://app.therapro.ai to register, press "Speak" at the beginning of your session (or press "Type" and type in the box), then "Summarize" when you're done. That's it! In seconds your draft note in SOAP, DAP, BIRP, GIRP, or Narrative format (or your own custom format) will be ready.

When you press "Speak" TheraPro begins listening to your session using the latest in HIPAA-compliant artificial intelligence (AI) technology. When you're done with your session and press “Summarize”, TheraPro processes what it's heard and creates a draft clinical note in the format of your choice. SOAP, DAP, BIRP, GIRP, and Narrative formats come out of the box, or some plans allow you to create your own custom formats. We don't keep recordings of your session on our servers after your note has been successfully generated, your recordings are permanently deleted. After your note is produced, it stays in your history until you delete it.

Yes! If you forget to start TheraPro for your session, or you just find it easier to dictate notes after your session, TheraPro can help. We call this a Recap session. Just talk about what happened in the session and don't worry about making it perfect. TheraPro will clean up your thoughts and produce a draft note in the format of your choice that you can then review and sign off on. Keep in mind, the more data TheraPro has to work with, the better your note will be, so all else equal, having a full session is better. But if you prefer dictating full time, that's fine too! Our subscription plans support creating notes using both the Recap and Full session approach.

We've designed TheraPro from the ground up to keep your and your patients' data secure and private. We follow all HIPAA protocols, including using advanced encryption and having a team of security professionals monitoring our operations. We've completed an independent 3rd-party certification of our HIPAA compliance (you can find our certification badge at the top of our web page). Finally, we include a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement (BAA) as part of our standard therapist sign-up process, and we sign BAAs with every vendor and partner we work with, so that you can rest assured we take our obligations to your security and privacy seriously.

We don't keep recordings of your sessions. As TheraPro is listening to your session, it does create temporary audio recordings in order to analyze your session and produce your note. These recordings are permanently deleted after your session has been successfully analyzed and your note produced. Recordings are not kept except in rare circumstances, such as when needed to debug user issues, and they are immediately deleted when no longer needed. We do keep transcripts of sessions for further improvement of our AI models, but this is never done without your consent, and even then, no session transcript is ever used without being sanitized first, so that no Personally Identifiable Information (PII) or Protected Health Information (PHI) ever makes its way into our training data.

Yes! You can delete any or all of your notes in your session history. In TheraPro, go to History on the right panel then hover over the icon to the left of the session you'd like to delete. You should see a checkbox appear. Check the box next to each session you want to delete, or use the checkbox at the top to select all sessions, then click or tap the trash icon at the top right of the screen to delete the selected sessions and their associated notes.

Lots! TheraPro can generate notes in SOAP, DAP, BIRP, GIRP, and Narrative formats for all users out of the box, and with our Note Template feature, you can create virtually any clinical note format you want. No endless list of checkboxes or complicated form builder to use, just tell TheraPro the structure and content of the note you'd like to see, and TheraPro will do its best to populate your template using your session content! Our custom Note Template feature is currently available in our Pro and Multi-Therapist plans.

Yes! TheraPro can understand more than 50 languages, which is way more than any of us on the team knows. Plus, TheraPro can produce notes in dozens of languages and dialects. So, for example, you can do your sessions in Spanish and have your note automatically output in English, with no additional translation work required on your end! TheraPro can understand dozens of languages just by listening, and this feature is available to all users. Users in our Plus, Pro, and Multi-Therapist plans can use the Output Language feature to set the default output language for all their notes to a language other than English, if they choose.

Yes! There are a few ways to customize your notes in TheraPro. The easiest way is just to manually edit your notes by clicking into each section after the note has been generated. You can also use Thera, our AI assistant, to customize any note when manual edits are more difficult. For example, you can tell Thera (by clicking the white T or the yellow microphone button at the bottom right of your session) to "change client pronouns to feminine" or "use Therapist instead of Clinician", and Thera will scan and edit your notes accordingly! Thera is available in our Plus, Pro, and Multi-Therapist plans. All users can use our Note Personalizations feature to make sure all your notes are output following whatever short, custom instructions you have, such as "use Patient instead of Client". Use Thera to edit a single note, or use Note Personalizations to customize all your notes.

The Base model is our smaller, entry-level AI model with good session analysis and note generation capabilities. This model is the default model used in our Free and Basic plans, and we think it's good enough for many users. The Premium model is our larger AI model capable of more accurate and more sophisticated session analysis and clinical output. This model is the default in our Plus, Pro, and Multi-Therapist plans. But we also randomly upgrade sessions for our Free and Basic users to the Premium model free of charge, so they can see what the Premium model output looks like using their own sessions. The yellow Premium badge in your Session History shows which sessions were analyzed using the Premium model.

Yes! Here's the output for the Subjective section of a SOAP note for both models, using the same simulated therapy session as input:

Client described an overwhelming sense of loneliness and depression, fearing that he is destined to be alone due to past relationship failures. Client shared concerns about being unlovable and worthless, linking these feelings to his inability to maintain relationships.

We've designed TheraPro to be as absolutely easy to use and reliable as possible. But if you run into a problem, contact us at help@therapro.ai and we'll be happy to help! You can also use the support form in the app, available in the About section as well as the Manage Account section of Settings in the app. If you're having trouble with a particular session or note, use the "Report a problem" button below the session note and our team will be notified to reach out to help you with that session.

TheraPro is designed to work well with sparse data, so it doesn't need to hear your entire session to give you a good draft note. The more data, the better, of course, but let's say you forget to click Speak until 15 minutes into your session. Does this mean you'll have to do this note manually? Not necessarily! Start TheraPro for the rest of your session and see what happens. Your note may turn out better than you think.

Yes! We know it's important for your clients to be informed and allowed to consent to the use of any technology that might store or process their personal information, including your EHR, and including TheraPro. We have developed a sample consent form for TheraPro, available here, that you can freely adapt for use with your clients. The form is downloadable in Word and PDF formats, or if you prefer, you can copy and paste the relevant language into your existing disclosure forms.

Yes, TheraPro uses generative AI technology, including large language models (LLMs), to help therapists draft clinical documentation based on therapy session conversations, or a recap of those conversations as dictated by a therapist. TheraPro's AI generates draft content for a therapist to review, edit, and finalize in their electronic health record (EHR). TheraPro never makes autonomous clinical decisions or replaces your therapist's clinical judgment.

Unlike general-purpose AI tools, TheraPro is built specifically for mental health clinicians and their workflows. It is HIPAA-compliant and designed for security and privacy first. We require our infrastructure and model provider partners to sign HIPAA Business Associate Agreements (BAAs) with us. We also have Zero Data Retention (ZDR) agreements in place with our model provider partners. They are never allowed to use data from TheraPro's therapists or therapy sessions to train their models.

Like all modern cloud and AI services, TheraPro relies on computing infrastructure that consumes electricity and has an environmental footprint. We have not yet attempted to measure the environmental impact of our computing and AI activities, but we are open to doing so. Our goal is to provide meaningful efficiency benefits to our clinician users. We hope this allows our clinicians not only to spend more time caring for their clients, but also less time in front of their computer screens, so they use their own computing resources less and offset some of the impact of TheraPro's computing and AI activities.

We believe AI has the potential to significantly benefit all of humanity, but we also recognize it has downsides. We want to contribute to using AI for good, and we know this will require a significant amount of new technology infrastructure to come online to support increasing AI usage over time. But we also believe this infrastructure should be built out responsibly, keeping the impact to human health, well-being, and the environment as first-class concerns for AI infrastructure scaling, even if this means higher cost or lower availability of AI inference in the near term. Finding the right balance that supports growth while mitigating its impacts is not easy, but we are committed to being good partners with industry, government, and communities in doing so.
