It’s easy! One of our most important design principles is making TheraPro as absolutely intuitive and easy to use as possible for our therapists. You don’t need to fill out any forms or create your own recordings or download any software. Just go to https://app.therapro.ai to register, press “Start” at the beginning of your session, and “Summarize” when you’re done. That’s it! In seconds your draft progress note in DAP, SOAP, BIRP or paragraph format will be ready.

When you press “Start” TheraPro begins listening to your session using the latest in HIPAA-compliant artificial intelligence (AI) technology. When you’re done with your session and press “Summarize”, TheraPro processes what it’s heard and creates a draft progress note in the format of your choice (DAP, SOAP, BIRP or paragraph). We don’t keep recordings of your session on our servers. After your session summary is produced, it stays in your history until you delete it.

Yes! If you forget to start TheraPro for your session, or you just find it easier to dictate notes after your session, TheraPro can help. Just talk about what happened in the session and don’t worry about making it perfect. TheraPro will clean up your thoughts and produce a draft progress note in the format of your choice (DAP, SOAP, BIRP or paragraph) that you can then review and sign off on. Keep in mind, the more data TheraPro has to work with, the better your note will be, so all else equal, having a full session is better. But if you prefer dictating full time, that’s fine, too! We have a subscription plan just for you.

We’ve designed TheraPro from the ground up to keep your and your patients’ data secure and private. We follow all HIPAA protocols, including using advanced encryption and having a team of security professionals monitoring our operations. We’re in the process of performing an independent 3rd-party certification of our HIPAA compliance, and we’re working on our SOC-2 certification as well. Finally, we include a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement (BAA) as part of our standard therapist sign-up process, and we sign BAAs with every vendor and partner we work with, so that you can rest assured we take our obligations to your security and privacy seriously.

We don’t keep recordings of your sessions. As TheraPro is listening to your session, it does create temporary audio recordings in order to produce the session summary. These recordings are immediately deleted as soon as the summary is created. Recordings are not kept except in rare circumstances, such as when needed to debug user issues, and they are immediately deleted when no longer needed. We do keep transcripts of sessions for further improvement of our AI models, but these transcripts are never used without being sanitized first, so that no Personal Identifiable Information (PII) or Protected Health Information (PHI) ever makes its way into our training data.

Yes! You can delete any or all of your summaries in your summary history. In TheraPro, go to History on the right panel then hover over the icon to the left of the summary you’d like to delete. You should see a checkbox appear. Check the box next to each summary you want to delete, or use the checkbox at the top to select all summaries, then click or tap the trash icon at the top right of the screen to delete the selected summaries.

Currently, TheraPro can produce DAP, SOAP, and BIRP notes, in addition to unstructured paragraph summaries. We’re always working on new features for future release, so if you have a particular summary format you’d like to see in TheraPro, let us know at hello@therapro.ai.

Yes! TheraPro can understand more than 50 languages, which is way more than any of us on the team knows. But here’s the catch: for now, TheraPro only produces summaries in English, even if the session is conducted in a different language. So, for example, if you conduct a session with your client in Spanish, TheraPro will listen and understand the session content, but will only be able to produce a summary in English. We’re working on giving TheraPro the ability to output summaries in other languages.

Yes! You can direct Thera, your AI assistant in TheraPro, to customize any summary. Click the microphone icon on the summary detail page to activate Thera, then tell her what kind of changes you'd like to see in your note. For example, you can say "change Clinician to Therapist" or "change pronouns for the Client to feminine". Or any number of other things! Thera can accept any request related to changing the summary itself, but she doesn't have the ability (yet) to make changes based on the content of the session. Thera is available to all our paid users, but Expert users have additional editing capabilities, including the ability to make any change a default for future summaries. Just say something like "make that last change a default for all my notes" and all your future summaries will incorporate that as a personalization, with no further action required.

The Base model is our smaller, entry-level AI model with good summarization capabilities. This is the model we launched TheraPro with and that's available in our Free plan today. The Premium model is our larger AI model capable of more accurate and more sophisticated clinical output. We are now offering our Premium model to all paid subscribers. As with all our features, we will continue to offer our latest model capabilities to Experts first.

Yes! Here's the output for the Subjective section of a SOAP note for both models, using the same simulated therapy session as input:

Subjective: Client reported that he recently went through a breakup with a long-term partner and is feeling depressed. He expressed feelings of hopelessness and a belief that he will never find someone who loves him. Client also mentioned feeling lonely and expressed concerns about his age and the ticking clock.

Premium model output
Subjective: Client reported a recent breakup with a long-term partner, expressing feelings of hopelessness about finding love, exacerbated by aging and comparing himself to peers. Client described an overwhelming sense of loneliness and depression, fearing that he is destined to be alone due to past relationship failures. Client shared concerns about being unlovable and worthless, linking these feelings to his inability to maintain relationships.

We’ve designed TheraPro to be as absolutely easy to use and reliable as possible. But if you run into a problem, contact us at help@therapro.ai and we’ll be happy to help! Give us the email address you used to register with TheraPro, and if the issue is related to a particular session, copy/paste the URL in the address bar when you’re looking at the summary for that session. That should give us what we need to help you with your problem.

TheraPro is designed to work well with sparse data, so it doesn’t need to hear your entire session to give you a good draft note. The more data, the better, of course, but let’s say you forget to click Start until 15 minutes into your session. Does this mean you’ll have to do this note manually? Not necessarily! Start TheraPro for the rest of your session and see what happens. Your summary may turn out better than you think.

Yes! We know it's important for your clients to be informed and allowed to consent to the use of any technology that might store or process their personal information, including your EHR, and including TheraPro. We have developed a sample consent form for TheraPro, available here, that you can freely adapt for use with your clients. The form is downloadable in Word and PDF formats, or if you prefer, you can copy and paste the relevant language into your existing disclosure forms.
